If you use Sat Nav, that’s fine until you get to the BIG roundabout at the end of the dual carriageway, then it has a tendency to try and take you to Ings, trust me, this is a bad idea unless you like gates.
Easiest way to get to us is –
M6 leave at junction 39, turn right, towards A6 and Kendal, then when you get to the A6 turn left towards Kendal. Follow this road over Shap summit, (please note in extremely bad weather or poor visibility this is quite a ‘challenging drive’ and you may-be better going down the M6 to Junction 36 and following the directions from the South).
When you reach Kendal (approx 14 miles from the motorway) you will come to Kendal. (The cheapest Petrol is at Morrisons Supermarket, first left on entering Kendal).
Follow the A6 into Kendal until you come to a roundabout. Here turn right towards ‘Windermere’ and A5284. Follow the road, straight through the traffic lights, and then the road bears hard right, through another set of lights then up a hill and soon you will leave Kendal behind, eventually coming to a BIG roundabout. Go straight over the roundabout onto B5284,(Plumgarths farm shop on left 50 yds from entering road) towards ferry and Crook.
Follow road for approx 5 miles, through Crook. Eventually you will come to a hotel on RHS called Wild Boar, then again on RHS Gilpin Lodge (white kerb stones).
The road is straightish after Gilpin Lodge and as you come to the corners the road markings change to two solid white lines, slow down, then at the word slow painted on the road turn right into a lane, signed ‘gated road’ and also cycle route signage.
NEARLY THERE I promise
Go along lane until you come to a house on left, drive around house and go through wooden gate (please ensure you latch it as there is stock in the field). We are the next drive off to the left there is a stone sign on the wooden railings. Go through the right hand gate (2 metal gates) ensuring you close it behind you. If you come to a red metal gate then you have gone too far.
Tel. 015394 42508. Mobile, reception patchy on B5284, and on our lane.
